A LEFLER BROTHERS MEDIA PRODUCTION

With breathtaking determination, JOURNEY TO THE SUN follows the fearless crews who wage an epic annual battle against avalanches, towering snow walls, and impossible conditions to resurrect America's most dangerous and spectacular mountain road.
Every spring in Glacier National Park, a small army of road crews, avalanche forecasters, and heavy equipment operators risk their lives to carve through up to 80 feet of snow and debris, defying nature itself to open the legendary Going-to-the-Sun Road. But as climate change accelerates and ancient glaciers vanish at an alarming rate, this 50-mile engineering marvel—built with three lives lost and 490,000 pounds of explosives in the 1930s—faces its greatest challenge yet. In this urgent documentary, Jordan and Logan Lefler capture both the death-defying dedication of those who maintain our last connection to pristine wilderness and a disappearing world that may soon exist only in memory.
Journey to the Sun is produced by Lefler Brothers Media in partnership with Montana PBS and supported by grants and generous contributions from individual supporters.
JOURNEY TO THE SUN
THE FILMMAKERS
Jordan and Logan Lefler are award-winning filmmakers, photographers, and proud descendants of the Bitterroot Salish. Growing up on the Flathead Indian Reservation, the brothers were shaped by the wild beauty and cultural heritage of their homelands. Every project they create is a tribute to the landscapes, wildlife, and stories of the people who have walked these lands before them.

Their upcoming documentary, Journey to the Sun, tells the daring story of Glacier National Park’s Going-to-the-Sun Road—a marvel of engineering woven through some of the most rugged terrain in North America. Through breathtaking cinematography and heartfelt storytelling, the Leflers explore the road’s construction, its cultural significance, and the people who continue to fight each spring to open it for the world to experience.

Driven by a passion for conservation and cultural preservation, Jordan and Logan use their lens to bridge past and present, inviting audiences to not only witness Glacier’s beauty but to understand why it must be protected for generations to come.
